Dr Georgios Mazis MSc, PhD, FEBOT

Upper Limb Specialist.

Mr Mazis is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Iatriko P. Falirou Hospital where he is the Director of Upper Limb Surgery Department and he also collaborates as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with Iatriko Athinon Hospital and ”Osteon” Clinic.

 

Mr Georgios Mazis he has been appointed as Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the University Hospitals of Barking, Havering and Redbridge, London since January 2017.

 

In January 2014, he was awarded the PhD degree of the University of Athens with a grade of “Excellent”, after completing his thesis on: “Comparative study of extra-articular arthrodesis of the tarsal joint and heel extension osteotomy in children with spastic flat-foot in the context of cerebral palsy”, under the supervision of the Professor of Orthopaedics Mr. Panagiotis N. Soukakos.

 

In 2011, he obtained his MSc in Metabolic Bone Disorders from the University of Athens Medical School.
He graduated from the University of Athens Medical School in 2003. He completed his training as a core surgical trainee and in 2007 he started his specialist training in Trauma and Orthopaedics at the 1st Orthopaedic Clinic of the University of Athens alongside leading orthopaedic professors. (2007-2012).

 

He subsequently trained in the UK, acquiring experience and skills in the whole spectrum of Orthopaedics, obtaining the Fellow of European Board of Orthopaedics and Traumatology (FEBOT)
Since 2012 he is dedicated to his special interest, Upper Limb Surgery, as well as to the principles of medical science and ethics, having received training in leading centres in the United Kingdom.

 

He has been post-CCT fellowship trained in 2015, in the field of Upper Limb Surgery at the Royal Berkshire Hospital NHS, Reading, Berkshire focusing on Shoulder Arthroplasty and Arthroscopies.

 

The following year, he finished another post CCT fellowship training, at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore, in Upper Limb and complex Shoulder and Elbow Arthroplasty Surgery.

 

He has been a member of the British Elbow and Shoulder Society since 2015.

 

Since October 2016, he has been an examiner at Queens Hospital Clinical FRCS (Orth) Course.

 

Mr Mazis is a member of scientific committees and organizations and remains academically active having numerous publications of articles and pioneering surgical techniques, in scientific journals and reviews abroad.

 

He is passionate about innovation and works in collaboration with world recognised centres of excellence in upper limb surgery.

 

Specialities

I am a fellowship trained Consultant upper limb surgeon with special interest in shoulder and elbow arthroscopy, including complex arthroscopic procedures such as superior capsular reconstruction and arthroplasty. I provide a fully comprehensive shoulder and elbow service for degenerate disease and sports injuries with the latest cutting -edge techniques.

My approach to the patient is holistic and multidisciplinary, working closely with other skilled health professionals, in order to provide individualised, evidence-based treatment to my patients while promoting good medical practice.

I am offering my patients the option of wide-awake surgery for the majority of hand and wrist procedures.
